About Paracademy

Paracademy is the largest kite sports schools group in Europe. We have two campuses in the UK, situated in Dorset [Paracademy Portland] and Kent [Transition Kiteboarding Whitstable].

Paracademy was founded in 1999 to bring high quality kite sports training to any and all who want it at reasonable price. In 2003 we expanded to include a new campus in Kent.

No matter which campus you go to, the training is to the same syllabus with qualified instructors, the right equipment to teach with and a passion about kite sports.

We don't do retail - just training

We firmly believe that safety should come before profit - and one could argue that if we were involved with Kite sports retail we would certainly make more profit - like the vast majority of schools in the UK and around the world. However, we don't do retail and we aren't affiliated to any manufacturer which means we can be totally unbiased when it comes to providing you with the best training equipment and telling you what is best for you when you finish a course.

Being unbiased about manufacturers and not having stock on our shelves that we have to clear means that if you should be avoiding certain equipment for whatever reason we can let you know.

We aren't saying that retail is bad - just that there should be a distinction between those that sell equipment and those that train people to use it.

Close relationships improve safety

All businesses [especially those involved in potentially dangerous activities] have a responsibility to work with othger organisations to ensure proper standards are met and that the relevant authorities are very aware of what is going on.

At Paracademy we pride ourselves on the relationships we have built up with local councils, HM Coastguard and the RNLI as well as with the governing bodies for the sports, the IKO and BKSA.

Working with these groups allows a greater understanding all round about kite sports and continues to drive forward safety at all times.
